Get Through Christmas With Less Stress
It's that time of year again. Time to set up the Christmas tree, sing Christmas Carols and shop. Oh my goodness! How many days are there until Christmas? How much money can I spend this year? What did Bob say he wanted again? Ugh!! These are just a few things that cause people to get stressed during the Christmas season, and I am here to help you get through it Stress Free! Don't procrastinate The day after Thanksgiving, is the busiest shopping day of the year. There are tons of deals on electronics, toys, appliances and many more items. The more you can get done on that day, the better. If the thought of all those people shopping at once stresses you out, you can wait for a few days after Thanksgiving, or you can start the week before. Either way you need to get it done early. Don't wait until the 20th of December. That is when you will find a bunch people who did the same thing. You may also find that what you are looking for is sold out. Then you will have to settle with "second best". Don't Over Spend The stress of the Holidays can go far beyond December 25th. Those bills come every month like clockwork. If you have maxed out your credit cards and spent every last penny in your checking account, then you end up being stressed about your financial situation. Set a "Gift Budget" and stick to it. Remember the old saying, "It's the thought that counts." Be creative. If you know people who enjoy cooking, you can buy the ingredients you need to make "Cookies in a Jar" Just mix all the dry ingredients together and attach instructions and a copy of the recipe. If you buy in bulk, you can usually make several batches of this for very cheap. Make a List Start asking your friends and family what they would like for Christmas well in advance. Start a list for each person. Have their name and your budgeted amount for that person, and the requested gift that you intend to buy for them underneath that. Treat this just as you would your grocery list. You only buy what is on your list and don't go over budget. Once you have purchased something for that person, cross them off your list and move on to the next one. Ask for Help You don't have to do it alone. This time of year, the kids are on Christmas break, and believe it or not, they love to help. Ask them to help you bake cookies. They can go shopping with you and help you buy for one of the kids on your list, or they can help with the housework. Christmas is supposed to be a fun holiday, but if you spend the days leading up to it stressed out, it won't be.
